One of my very favorite Christmas carols is Longfellow’s I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day. There’s a magic and beauty about this hymn that I simply love. The bounce of the music and the hope of the lyrics captures the Christmas is the most perfect way.

A few years ago the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sung this hymn while Edward Hermann told the history of Longfellow’s poem. The combination of the history and carol coming together in one setting makes the lyrics that more potent.

What is your favorite Christmas carol? I’d love to know!
